Kindle Fire 2 Specs

This page will be updated as we gather more information as it becomes available, we will keep you up to date on the latest rumours and the official specs as we get them.

Kindle Fire 2 Spec Rumours

  • Bigger Screen 9-10″ has been rumoured according to Digitimes which reports that the Kindle Fire 2 screen will be 9.7 inches, or maybe 10.1 inches.
  • Quad Core Processor  The boys over at BGR stated that they think Amazon will release a Quad core tablet by the end of 2012 dubbed codename “Hollywood”. We think this rumour to be true as the Kindle Fire 2 will need to have similar specs to the ipad 3 and other tablets to compete.
  • More Amazon less Android Amazons goal with their tablets is to use it as a vessel to increase sales from their core business which is online shopping. The new kindle fire 2 could look more like a new os than Android as it will promote the Amazon app store more than the Android Market and will be tailored to Amazon users and entice shopping at the online giant.

    • 2017melomre

      • Cmmechem

        Uh, Skype?

      • highteck101

        facebook, youtube, skype.

  • RTR2011

It needs a micro sd slot and a camera. If so, count me in!

  • None

Needs atleast a microsd card slot, is big problem on KF1

  • Craven79

I think that it should have a sd card slot and camera those features would enhance sales

I would love a 2-3MP front facing camera for Skype use. Then Apple would truely have something to fear. My wife uses her iPad’s rear facing camera so much she bought a case that does NOT have a window for the camera… If she needs to take a picture, she has her phone (with an 8 MP camera.)

  • Afmnrs_7

    3G is a must requirement

    • Ljzrjz

      Absolutely!

Truth be told, less Android, more Amazon won’t sell very well. They would have to add a front facing camera and mic or something to be better than the current kindle and leave the same Android feel. (Its already cut out soo much of the android favorite features which is why most of the people who have the tablet have already rooted it.)

Even if they did make it better but had less of the android OS than it ALREADY does, people would still buy it to root it since they have put out a great product at half the price. With a name already made for themselves, Amazon has a bit of leverage to do a bit of what they want with the OS, still doesn’t mean people won’t change it right back to android.

Why do they call it kindle fire why not kindle lighting

  • Jdavison2000

A big improvement for me outside of adding storage space would be supporting other video formats! I do buy alot of movies from amazon with the added digital content but they are not playable. Support for both apple and microsoft formats would be a huge addition.

  • no name

    keep the size, not bigger

Honestly I think they should Have went 4g.
3g is now a thing of the past.
So far i’ve been on http://www.yourkindlebooks.net and reading reviews.
amazon really needs to start answering the problems and start making some changes.
for the price range it sure is better then buying an ipad.

  • Halibaco

Will it have a free 3g connection like the kindle ereaders?

  • johio

Yes I agree with RTR2011, needs a sd slot so you can transfer music from another sd card into the device. Also why didn’t they add a camera? That would sell for me since the ipad offers that.
